Will be voted on tonight. Before we get to the vote there are people in this building threatening those who have committed their yes vote. I will vote for this bill because it will keep our hospitals open. Not just rural hospitals but hospitals all over Colorado. Memorial needs this bill. The people who are served by Memorial need this bill. It changes the hospital provider fee from a fee under the TABOR cap to an Enterprise. But it doesn’t raise anyone’s taxes. And that is the promise made by TABOR. No increase in taxes without a vote of the people. This does NOT violate TABOR and anyone who says it does, doesn’t understand TABOR. So those of you who are threatening those of us who are voting for this bill, I hope you remember this the next time you need a hospital. You will be glad some of us voted to keep your hospital open.
This bill, that has made it through House Judiciary, House Finance and House appropriations as well as Senate State Affairs will be heard in Senate Appropriations today. Keeping my fingers crossed that it passes.
