HB 1060 in committee on Monday

Income Tax Deduction For Military Retirement Benefits eliminates state income tax on first $20,000 of retirement income. Encourages retirees to stay in state, increased property tax, other taxes. Studies show a new gain to state income.

Veterans Tax Exemption Bill in Committee

My bill that will exempt the first $20,000 of a military veterans retirement pay will be heard in committee this month. Presently on the calendar for January 29th it may be moved to the 23rd. At this time people retiring from the service leave our state for states that are more friendly to vets. We lose their experience and their financial contributions in the form of property taxes, sales taxes, other income taxes, paid. It’s a great loss to our state. Stay tuned.
